Amaroots (MAR, ALG)
Home > Amaroots (MAR, ALG) Amaroots is a North African reggae band based in Hannover, fronted by two vocalists from Morocco and Algeria. They fuse classic reggae rhythms with traditional African (and Amazigh) beats to craft a distinctive “Reggae Maghreb” sound. Their debut EP, Africa to Babylon, explores African roots and contemporary struggles through powerful, socially conscious lyrics. Known for energetic live shows—including performances at Fête de la Musique Hannover and collecting:dreams Festival—they champion themes of unity and resistance. Amaroots also release covers like their take on “Stop That Train” and originals like “Freedom,” regularly performing street-music gigs in Hannover.
